My father was stationed in the
Canal Zone during World War II and then returned there to work in early
1947.
My mother and I left New York to join him in August, 1947 when I was little more than 1 year old.
I lived on the Atlantic side until I was 17 and then lived and worked on the Pacific side (except for 2 years at college) until I left for good in 1972.
I am very interest in preserving the history of the Canal Zone and the Americans who built and operated the Canal for almost 100 years.
